About CISA

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) was established in 2018 as part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Its mission is to protect the nation's critical infrastructure from physical and cyber threats. This involves enhancing the security, resilience, and reliability of key infrastructure sectors, such as energy, transportation, and communications.

CISA was founded to address the growing and evolving cyber threats that pose significant risks to national security, economic stability, and public safety. By providing comprehensive cybersecurity services, including threat analysis, incident response, and security guidance, CISA helps government agencies, private sector partners, and the public safeguard against cyber attacks.

CISA’s creation aimed to consolidate and streamline the federal government’s cybersecurity and infrastructure protection efforts, ensuring a coordinated and effective approach to defending against both cyber and physical threats. Its focus is on proactive risk management, information sharing, and building a resilient infrastructure capable of withstanding and recovering from potential disruptions.
